Wendy Giuffre, Principal Consultant
With a background in human resources, group benefits, and individual insurance, Wendy Giuffre brings a unique understanding of both human resources management and group benefits. Prior to establishing Wendy Ellen Inc. in 2003, Wendy was a Human Resources professional with more than 20 years experience, primarily at Shell Canada Ltd.
As a human resource generalist, Wendy has experience dealing with a wide scope of employee relations. Her firm but empathetic approach is based on her practical experience and her knowledge of the human rights and legal aspects of employee relations. At Shell Canada Ltd., Wendy was responsible for a variety of functions, including managing the pension plan and looking after the international employees.
After seeing the challenges facing small to mid-sized enterprises that simply could not justify hiring a full-time Human Resource professional, Wendy started her company to provide complete outsourced HR services to these businesses.
Key Accomplishments
- Major Oil and Gas Company – Wendy orchestrated the turnaround of the expatriate/foreign worker department that had a negative reputation and poor client relations within the company. She handled everything from compensation and taxation to cultural issues.
- Non-Profit Organization – Wendy successfully resolved two separate 'bullying' situations that were impacting the morale of the entire organization.
- Oil and Gas Services – Wendy provided policies and guidance and developed relationships to lay a foundation for a HR department in a company that was previously in acquisition with no HR resources. She handled numerous employee relations issues plaguing the company.
- Creative Agency – Wendy facilitated an intervention for a long-time employee struggling with alcoholism by formalizing a process to get the employee help and return to work without consequence.
- Oil and Gas Services – Wendy prevented a human rights case from proceeding to the tribunal stage, reaching a fair agreement between the company and an employee that had been labeled uncooperative and aggressive.
